GridPane vs. InterWorx: Choosing a Stack for Your VPS

GridPane is our default: a lean, fast NGINX stack without control-panel overhead. Choose InterWorx if you want a traditional control panel with separate accounts for each client or site. Both run well on an Iridium Hosting VPS.

InterWorx: a full control panel

InterWorx is there when you need a traditional control panel. It runs Apache, gives you the familiar tools of a hosting panel, and you can create as many control panel accounts as your server can handle.

  • Good for agencies that give clients their own logins
  • Familiar if you’re coming from cPanel
  • Handles non-WordPress needs on the same server

GridPane: a WordPress-only stack

GridPane is our default stack. It’s built only for WordPress and runs NGINX. It skips the traditional control panel, so there’s less overhead and more resources for your sites. You still get full WordPress dashboard access and SFTP.

  • Fast and lean, tuned for WordPress
  • No control panel to learn or maintain
  • Best when every site on the server is WordPress

Which should you choose?

If you’re unsure, think about who needs to log in. If clients or teammates need their own panel, choose InterWorx. If it’s just you and your WordPress sites, GridPane is usually the better fit. Either way, our VPS plans include free manual migration.

Frequently asked questions

Can I switch control panels later?

Yes, but it means migrating sites to a freshly configured server, so it’s best to choose up front.

Do either of them include root access?

No. We don’t provide root access on any server, but SSH access is available on VPS plans on request.
