We collect this personal information for showing compliance to net Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (“ICANN”), and to some particular TLD registries. Because of this compliance, our users can register their domain names validly. Also, some of our contracts with some Registries may want us to collect other personal information for registering a TLD. This personal information can include:

  • Identification or other qualifiers (“Additional Personal Information”).

Disclosure of Information:

Public Whois:

Due to our contracts with ICANN and other Registries, we must ensure that some of the domain information is made available and accessible to the public. This domain information is known as (WHOIS Information). The availability and access of this information are ensured by a searchable port 43 “WHOIS” Service through a public webpage. This webpage is operated by the applicable registrar of record (WHOIS Site).

Transfer Out:

If one of our users decides to transfer out of a domain name and does not want us as the record registrar, then we may need to publish the user’s

registered email address because of our contract with ICANN. This email address is obtained from the Personal Information given on the WHOIS Site for five calendar days.

Once this period is completed, and the valid transfer has occurred,

  • The user will not remain our customer for that domain name, and
  • The gaining registrar will manage their WHOIS information.

Certain Registries:

As third party providers of TLDs, registries are independent domain registrars.  Due to contractual requirements from a particular registry, we may be required for providing Personal Information and Additional Personal Information to that Registry for the successful completion of the user’s domain name. If a Registry receives the user’s personal and additional personal information, it will be obliged to comply with applicable data privacy laws.

Data Escrow:

Due to our contract with ICANN, we have to deposit the collected Personal Information via a secure third-party escrow provider who is the sole holder of the data.

Permitted Disclosures:

Iridium Hosting can disclose the users’ Personal Information whenever required by the ICANN rules, regulations, and policies. This can include (but is not limited to) the UDRP (Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy).

This collected data is stored within Iridium Hosting’s infrastructure, including its back-end databases, log files, and analytics.
